The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has scheduled a National Drug Take-Back Day for Saturday, April 27, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This event is a great opportunity for those who have accumulated unwanted or unused prescription drugs to safely dispose of those medications. Proper disposal of unused drugs can save lives and the environment. When the results of three prior Take-Back Events are combined, the DEA, and its state, local, and tribal law-enforcement and community partners have removed 995,185 pounds (498.5 tons) of medication from circulation in the past 13 months. Participate in this upcoming event by bringing your unwanted medications to any of the convenient DEA drop-off sites located throughout western PA.
As a Presenting Sponsor, Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield will host drop-off sites at the Highmark Direct stores Pittsburgh locations - Monroeville, North Fayette, North Hills and South Hills, as well as Erie, PA.
