Tai Chi and Qigong (“chee-kung”) are ancient Chinese wellness practices rooted in the Daoist philosophy of living in harmony with nature. We will use breathing, grounding, and gentle, fluid movement to nourish wholeness and balance. We will explore how these mind-body practices foster resilience, vitality and serenity.
Tai Chi and Qigong are generally taught standing, yet seated practice is always an option. We will move with moderation, slowly and smoothly to quiet the mind, listen to the body and make adjustments as needed. The goal is to relax and allow the natural flow and power of movement to emerge.
Gurney will demonstrate and describe variations of each exercise so that the practice is accessible to all levels of skill.
Please wear comfortable clothes and flat, flexible shoes attached at the heel.
